Since 1969, Meki’s Tamure Polynesian Dance Group has been providing cultural entertainment, education and instruction through live music and dance. The group was birthed in the Hawaiian Room of the Emerson Hotel (demolished in 1971) and now operates under the direction of Meki Toalepai. The group demonstrates the songs and dances of Samoa, Tahiti, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji and Hawaii with unique instruments and costuming. The events are highlighted with audience participation and the world famous Samoan Flaming Fire Knife Dance. We strive to entertain, educate and instruct the residents of Maryland and surrounding states through multicultural and diverse performing arts platforms. More info about our group can be found on our Facebook page, Meki’s Tamure Polynesian Dance Group. Aloha!!
